X-Pak Level 0 Dunnage Bags provide a cost-effective, reusable, and environmentally friendly solution for securing cargo during over-the-road transport and intermodal shipments. Designed for light to medium-duty applications, these air-filled load restraint bags stabilise cargo within voids in truck trailers, containers, and railcars, preventing movement and damage in transit.

Each Level 0 Dunnage Bag is engineered to X-Pak’s exacting standards using woven polypropylene crafted from high-quality virgin resin. The material is extruded, woven, and laminated for superior strength, ensuring durability and compliance with international load restraint standards.

Our bags feature a spring-loaded valve compatible with our handheld, portable Inflate-X Pro and Inflate-X Ultimate units, or a standard air compressor, allowing for quick inflation and deflation. This makes them ideal for busy operations that demand efficiency without compromising on safety or quality.

Available in a range of custom sizes, X-Pak Level 0 Dunnage Bags can be tailored to your specific cargo configuration, ensuring optimal protection across all load types and container dimensions.

As part of X-Pak’s commitment to sustainable transport packaging, these reusable dunnage bags help reduce waste and minimise environmental impact. Their long service life means fewer replacements, lower operational costs, and less landfill contribution. Protect your cargo with confidence while supporting a cleaner supply chain. Explore X-Pak’s full range of eco-friendly load restraint and cargo securing solutions to find the perfect fit for your transport operation.

What are dunnage bags made of?

Dunnage bags are typically made of layers of kraft paper or polyethylene with an inner layer of an inflatable plastic bladder. X-Pak bags are made from  Woven Polypropylene (Outer Material ) and Co-Extruded Polyethylene for their inner linings. The materials used are chosen for their strength, flexibility, and ability to resist punctures.

Are dunnage bags recyclable?

The X-Pak range of dunnage bags contains 8% recycled material. As we are the only vertically integrated manufacturer, we are continually looking at ways to reduce the use of virgin material in our bags, without compromising on quality.

Can you re-use dunnage bags?

Yes. Our dunnage bags are re-useable up to several times if in good condition. Our valve allows for simple deflation so they can be re-used. Wherever you have a ‘closed loop’ supply chain, we always suggest implementing the re-use of dunnage bags.

How do I deflate the dunnage bags?

There are two methods to deflate your dunnage bags:

Method 1: Inflate-X Pro in ‘Reverse’ - These units provide the quickest deflation method for efficient bag deflation. Simply detach the air hose from the standard position and re-attach this to the ‘Air in’ valve on the side of the unit.

Method 2: Metal Keys – For easy opening of the valve (and to save your fingers), Insert the metal key into the bag valve and twist to the 'Open' position to release air (clockwise motion). Important: Always twist the valve back to the 'Closed' position after deflation and before re-inflation to ensure proper functionality.

Both methods allow for easy bag reuse while maintaining valve integrity for future applications.

How do I choose the right size of dunnage bag for my cargo?

The size of the dunnage bag depends on the void space between the cargo and the walls of the container. Measure the gaps accurately and choose a dunnage bag that can fill those voids when properly inflated. X-Pak can come to your site and conduct a free assessment to recommend the best size bags for your cargo.

Are dunnage bag valves universal?

No. There are generally 5 or so different types of dunnage bag valves on the Australian market, each depending on the manufacturer. Some of the more common valves are interchangeable. If in doubt, contact X-Pak today to find out if your bags or inflation tools will fit an existing setup.

Can I use dunnage bags at the container doors?

Although this is a common way to fill the void at the end of a container (between your product at the doors), from a load-restraint perspective, it’s not recommended. The main reason being due to the rating of dunnage bags not typically able to withstand the full force of a significant load shift in transit. To fill a large gap at the container doors, we’d suggest a container tarp or form of rated lashing system.

Are there different types of dunnage bags?

Yes, there are different types of dunnage bags designed for specific applications. For example, there are single or dual bags of different sizes, each addressing different void spaces within a container.

How are container airbags inflated?

Typically, in one of two ways. Firstly, the traditional method of inflation is an air compressor. We provide gauged inflators that fit onto an air hose and can inflate container bags to a set pressure. The other alternative is a Portable Inflation or battery powered unit (like our Inflate-X Pro  unit). These are a fast, easy way to inflate your container airbags.

What are dunnage bags rated to?

Dunnage bags range from a Level 0 dunnage bag right through to a Level 5 bag. Using the correct bag for your products and in the correct manner can help secure loads up to 30 tons inside a container. In almost every case, airbag failures or bursting is from using an incorrect product or a poor quality bag.

Can I get custom dunnage bags?

Yes, depending on minimum volumes and your specific requirements. There are situations where you may have an odd shaped product or large void to fill, for example, where you will require a specifically manufactured dunnage bag. The team at X-Pak will be able to assist you, no matter the void you’re hoping to fill.

How much weight can you secure with a Dunnage bag?

A dunnage bag can secure a load up to 30tonne.

Can you burst the bags using the Inflate-X Pro?

No – the Inflate-X Pro  unit will inflate to a maximum of 1.2 PSI.

Does the Inflate-X Pro work with other brand dunnage bags?

The Inflate-X Pro  units are designed to be used exclusively with X-Pak bags.

Can you ever over inflate a dunnage bag?

Yes when using a compressor and a non-gauged inflator attachment, you can. You can never over inflate a dunnage bag when using a Inflate-X Pro as their motors are geared to only generate a max of 1.2PSI

Can Dunnage Bags withstand sharp products and objects?

Yes, to a certain extent. It is always suggested you use some form of protection such as corflute or cardboard sheets between the dunnage bag and sharp edges wherever possible.
