Lashing Accessories

Used in conjunction with cargo lashing equipment, our range of accessories, including anti-slip mats, protective corners, and more, are designed to maximise your ability to restrain your cargo easily and efficiently.

Anti Slip Mats

Anti Slip Mats are made of rubber and are a simple way to increase the friction coefficiency under goods, offering better load securement. The surface pairing (two surface types, e.g. wooden pallet and steel truck) defines the coefficient of friction and therefore how easily your goods will move in transit. Placing rubber mats under your goods in transport will guarantees a higher friction coefficient and makes it compliant with the CTU code.

  • Temperature resistant – can withstand temperatures between -30°C to 100°C
  • Increase the friction anywhere from 0.6µ to 0.9µ.

Lashing Magnets

Harnessing the power of magnetic force, these innovative magnets ensure the secure organisation and proper alignment of lashing straps by holding the lashing to the container walls while implementing them, elevating the overall performance of your cargo securing process.

  • 41 kg holding force
  • Metal body with 36mm diameter
  • Residue-free removable

Quarter Shell Corner Protectors

These tough corner protectors are designed specifically to shield the corners of IBCs or 200L drums. They prevent the straps from digging into your products during tension and shipping, ensuring your items stay safe and secure during transport.

  • 10 mm thick to withstand substantial force
  • Even distribution of force across whole load

Slotted Corner Protectors

A common challenge when using the Red Lash system on product prone to load shift, is the horizontal straps remaining in place throughout the export journey. The slotted corner protectors not only help by holding the straps stayg in place, but they also protect softer packaging types such as cartons or paper bags from damage caused by the lashing. These corner angles are manufactured in Europe.

  • Made from recycled cardboard
  • TUV Rheinland Certified
  • CTU Code Compliant

What Our Customers Say

Any Questions? We’ve Got You Covered.

These are the most commonly asked questions. Here’s everything you need to know about how our products work in your industry.

What is lashing in the context of cargo securing?

Lashing refers to the process of securing cargo to prevent it from shifting or falling during transportation. This is typically done using straps, chains, binders, or other devices.

Lashing is essential to ensure the stability and safety of cargo during transit. It prevents damage to the cargo and helps maintain the overall safety of the transportation vehicle.

Yes, by using our Refrigerated Container Lashing Points to secure the lashing. Contact us for a free demonstration.

A flat rack is an open container with sides but no roof, designed for transporting oversized or irregularly shaped cargo. It is commonly used when traditional containers are not suitable for the dimensions of the cargo.

Load restraints are essential on flat racks to prevent cargo from shifting, sliding, or falling during transportation. Properly securing the load ensures the safety of the cargo, as well as the personnel involved in loading, unloading, and transporting the flat rack.

Common load restraints for flat racks include lashing and bracing materials. The choice of restraints depends on the nature, weight, and size of the cargo. Talk to us to discuss what would best suit your cargo.

The correct tension for lashings depends on the type of cargo, the lashing material used, and regulatory requirements. X-Pak can provide free training on how to implement lashing on your cargo.

The reuse of lashing equipment depends on its condition and compliance with safety standards. Regular inspections should be conducted, and damaged or worn-out equipment should be replaced to ensure continued safety.

The amount of lashing required depends on the weight, size, and characteristics of the cargo. We can provide guidance for determining the appropriate number and configuration of lashings.

Any Questions? We’ve Got You Covered.

These are the most commonly asked questions. Here’s everything you need to know about how our products work in your industry.

What is PET strapping?

PET strapping, also known as polyester strapping or pet strap, is a high tensile plastic strapping designed for securing heavy palletised loads during road, rail and sea transport.

At X-Pak, our PET strapping is engineered for Australian conditions. It is used extensively across cotton gins, timber mills, hay exporters, brick manufacturers, mining suppliers and container packers who require consistent tension retention and compliance with the CTU Code and NHVR Load Restraint Guide.

It is commonly green to clearly distinguish it from lighter duty polypropylene strapping used for cartons and light bundling.

In most Australian industrial applications, yes.

High quality PET strapping delivers break strengths comparable to steel strapping while offering one critical advantage: elastic memory. If your load settles during transit, PET strap contracts and maintains tension. Steel does not. Once steel goes slack, the load is unsecured.

We regularly assist sites transitioning from steel to PET with no disruption to production. If you are unsure, we can review your current strap specification and confirm what break strength is actually required.

Steel strapping carries risk when cut under tension. Lash back injuries and sharp edge lacerations are well documented in warehouse environments.

PET strapping is safer to handle:

  • No sharp edges
  • No dangerous spring back
  • Significantly lighter rolls
  • Reduced manual handling strain

Polypropylene strapping is suited for:

  • Light cartons
  • Internal pallet moves
  • Short term storage

PET strapping is suited for:

  • Heavy palletised goods
  • Export containers
  • Timber, cotton, bricks, hay and mining products
  • Long haul transport

If your load is travelling by road, rail or sea, PET strapping is generally the correct specification. Using polypropylene strap on heavy loads often leads to stretch loss and pallet instability.

If you want clarity, we can assess your pallet weight, stacking pattern and transport method and recommend the correct strap width and break strength.

PET strapping is available in multiple widths and break strengths, typically ranging from approximately 530 kg to over 1350 kg.

The correct selection depends on:

  • Pallet weight
  • Load height
  • Transport method
  • Whether the freight is containerised
  • Restraint method

Over specifying increases cost. Under specifying increases risk. There is often a simpler way to approach this than just choosing the thickest strap available.

We can calculate the appropriate specification for your operation and ensure it aligns with compliance requirements.

PET strapping can be applied using:

  • Manual tensioners and sealers
  • Combination tools
  • Buckle systems
  • Battery powered friction weld tools
  • Fully automatic strapping machines

For high volume palletising, battery powered strapping tools significantly improve productivity and reduce operator fatigue.

X-Pak also offers a loan tool program to ensure zero downtime if your tool requires servicing. For manufacturing sites running continuous production, this removes a common operational risk.

Yes.

Polyester strapping, commonly known as PET strapping or pet strap, is recyclable when clean and separated from general waste.

At X-Pak, we support this through our unique StrapCycle program. StrapCycle is a practical, closed loop recovery solution designed for Australian manufacturers, exporters and freight operators using PET strapping in volume.

Many Australian manufacturers see material cost reductions along with improved safety and handling efficiency.

What is load restraint?

Load restraint is the process of securing cargo within a transportation vessel, such as a truck, ship, or train, to prevent movement, shifting, or falling during transit.

Load restraint is crucial to ensure the safety of the cargo, the vehicle, and everyone involved in the transportation process. It prevents accidents, damage to the cargo, and maintains overall road and transportation safety in the logistics supply chain.

Various devices are used for load restraint, including strapping, lashing, dunnage bags, anti-slip mats, and tensioners. The choice of device depends on the type of cargo, the mode of transportation, and the regulations governing the transport.
The appropriate method depends on factors such as the weight, size, and shape of the cargo. Regulatory requirements and the mode of transportation also play a role. Contact X-Pak for free advice on the most effective solution for you.

At X-Pak Global, we understand the importance of selecting the right cargo securing solution for your specific needs. To assist you in making an informed decision, we offer complimentary site visits and assessments. Our team of experts will visit your location, evaluate your cargo restraint, and provide personalised recommendations based on its weight, size, and unique characteristics.

During the site visit, we’ll assess the transportation conditions and consider factors such as the mode of transport and any regulatory requirements.
